Engineering embedded systems and sensors

I work in the Advanced Mechatronics team as a Research Engineer. I joined Callaghan Innovation in 2019 after studying mechatronics engineering at the University of Canterbury. I'm all about applied science and now utilise my experience with embedded systems, electronics, sensors and research and development to support Callaghan Innovation’s work in applied technologies for commercialisation.

I've worked on a diverse range of projects but at the end of the day I get a kick out of designing, assembling and testing products for customers. This work pushes the boundaries of what’s possible and I just really enjoy discovering how things work which drives what I do.

I commonly use PLA plastic when 3D printing prototypes and test setups. You may have noticed that PLA smells sweet when printed. This is because it is derived from lactic acid, which is fermented from natural materials like sugar beets, sugar cane, or corn. Not too shabby for a bonus feature.
