Advancing fermentation tools and capabilities
I am a Research Technician in the Biotechnologies group with a specialisation in Bioprocessing and Fermentation. Prior to joining Callaghan Innovation, I worked in the UK on the development of in vitro diagnostic medical devices. My responsibilities included optimising and validating methods for point-of-care devices used in the detection of infectious organisms and rare cell diagnostics through liquid biopsy.
My work explores new avenues for fermentation processes including precision fermentation of animal free protein isolates involving bacteria and yeast using bioreactors up to 1L in size.
I am well-versed in quality management systems, ensuring regulatory compliance for biosecurity and food safety. By using my expertise in bioprocessing and fermentation, I aim to support the development of innovative solutions that support Sir Paul Callaghan’s vision of 100 global companies from New Zealand.
