    In this workshop we will help attendees understand:

    • Warning signs that your product isn’t fit for scaling.
    • When to start focusing on scale and understanding lead times for changing a system.
    • Technical foundations for scale and when to think about them.
    • Patterns and anti-patterns for improving scalability.
    • A business overview of scalable SaaS architecture. How to understand the tradeoffs between monolithic vs micro services architecture including the costs and benefits of each.
    • The skills needed to transform existing systems and operate new systems at scale.
    • How to identify architectural options for provisioning customers and how this or other high value features may be a useful first step to scale.

    Trainer Bios:

    Manfred has broad and customer focused software engineering expertise across a variety of industries, technologies and organizational roles, both as individual contributor and in several leadership positions. Test-driven development (TDD), automation, continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD) with zero downtime, system design, DevOps, service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices architecture (MSA), cloud architecture (AWS, Azure), and AI are just some of the topics that Manfred deals with on a regular basis. Manfred enjoys the entire spectrum of software engineering from writing code to high-level road mapping and everything in between. He is also a Certified SAFe® 5 Program Consultant (SPC).

    Gareth has over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry, including more than a decade in London working in investment banking and media as a technologist, team leader and software coach. He holds an MSc in computer science and was one of the first people in the world to become a Scaled Agile Framework Program Consultant Trainer (SPCT). Gareth is a speaker at both NZ and international events including LSSC, Agile Australia and Agile New Zealand.
    Gareth co-founded Hypr to champion Agile architecture and lean software delivery for the benefit of the New Zealand software industry and their customers.
