The workshop aims at advising customers on the importance of aligning IP Strategy with the business strategy and that there is no one best practice IP Strategy.
The workshop advises businesses on the importance of aligning intellectual property (IP) strategy with business strategy and that there is no one best practice IP strategy.
The presenter will use real business examples to illustrate these points, identify cases that worked and those that did not, and provide an overview of IP concepts to develop an understanding of all IP rights (not just the registered ones), highlighting that ALL businesses have IP.
The session will also involve working through a case study with attendees to help them understand and identify the IP risks and opportunities.
Morning tea will be provided and there will be an opportunity for networking.

Presenter: Jane McHenry from Potter IP
Jane McHenry is a director of Potter IP, having joined the firm in 2016. She has extensive IP knowledge built up over more than 20 years’ working in the industry.
Jane is one of only a handful of experienced in-house patent attorneys in NZ. She combines her PhD and experience as a patent examiner with in-depth in-house patent experience, dealing with issues internationally, not just in New Zealand.
Her experience covers a diverse range of technology areas including biotechnology, motors, algorithms, medical devices and biofuels.
Jane brings a unique perspective to this workshop that businesses looking to develop their IP strategies will find incredibly valuable.
