The business-minded technologist
I describe myself as a business-minded technologist because I am passionate about commercial technology innovation. My work at Callaghan Innovation is as a Business Innovation Advisor where I enjoy experimenting, discovering, and extrapolating to find technology solutions to business problems. As a co-founder and CEO, I experienced the power of having the right business advisors to challenge and encourage me. It is a real privilege to be able to now pay this forward and work alongside Kiwi Tech companies to see them become wildly successful.
Someone who inspires me is Jason Lemkin. He is a global leader, multiple time founder, passionate investor and inspiration to thousands of ambitious software companies. His generous sharing of insight, expertise and building a community helps everyone on their journey.
In my past I led a Google Design Sprint team that rapidly produced a meaningful business support response to the Covid pandemic. Of course, the fun part is building the solution and I know that ‘Build’ and ‘Operate’ are not subsequent phases, but a continuation of the discovery journey.
My customers come from a wide variety of industries and utilise software to get ahead. They place a great deal of value in having an independent advisor with my track record in product development and commercialisation. My advice to many is by focussing your attention on doing LESS than you do today you’re more likely to succeed.
