AbstractIn this paper the antisymmetric excitation of a porous microstructured aluminium layer was investigated using FEA. The generation of two leaky antisymmetric type waves was observed; one similar to a fundamental anti-symmetric A 0 mode and the other a slower A mode. By increasing the microstructure pore widths the velocity of the dispersive A 0 mode decreases and the velocity of the A mode increases. The increased pore width decreases the energy coupling of both modes. © 2011 IEEE.
