New Zealand’s first business accelerator programme for Māori entrepreneurs and start-ups is now taking applications.
Callaghan Innovation and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa have teamed up with Creative HQ, Robett Hollis, Crowe Horwath and Ernst & Young Tahi to create a unique business accelerator dedicated to speeding up the development of early stage Māori businesses.
Kōkiri is a 4-month startup accelerator programme which will select up to 10 early stage companies to participate in a four-month, cohort-based block programme. Entrepreneurs selected for Kōkiri will receive education, funding, mentoring, networking opportunities and engagement with leading business figures. The programme starts in Hamilton on 12 February 2018.
Elena Higgison, Callaghan Innovation’s Start-Up Manager says, “We’re excited to see entries open for Kōkiri. This is a real opportunity for entrepreneurs to accelerate their startup idea and to form a business, or take their business to the next level.
“We are looking forward to working with the Māori business community to get in behind and support Kōkiri and Māori business success.”
Applications for Kōkiri are due by 17 November.
