Abstract | The isolation of the first nickel(III) complexes containing thio- or seleno-ether donor groups is reported, specifically [Ni{o-C6H4(PPh2)(EMe)}Br3] (E = S, Se), [Ni{o-C6H4(PMe2)(SeMe)}2Br2]BF4, and [Ni{o-C6H4(AsMe2)(SeMe)}2Br2]BF4. Palladium(IV) and platinum(IV) complexes of o-C6H4(AsMe2)(EMe) of type [Pd(LL)X4] or [Pt(LL)X4] (X = Cl or Br) are also described. The complexes have been characterised by analysis, IR, UV-Vis, multinuclear NMR and ESR spectroscopy as appropriate. The hybrid group VB-VIB donor ligands are in all cases much less effective at stabilising high oxidation state metal centres than diphosphines or diarsines. © 1987. |
