AbstractMethods for the reliable formation and operation of chemiresistive sensors are described. The physical characteristics of the sensors and the influence of environmental factors, particularly temperature and humidity, on their responses are outlined. We further introduce various plumbing configurations for presentation of analyte to the sensors, and the controlled incorporation of micro-organisms into an intrinsically conducting polymer (ICP).
