AbstractAn oscillatory dynamic mode has been proposed for a watt balance and this mode relies on the measurement of an ac voltage to determine the factor γ that relates coil current to the resultant force on the coil. A correction is required to account for the effect of the impedance and self-capacitance of the coil and the admittances presented by the ac voltmeter. This paper calculates the correction for a test coil and highlights the magnet and coil design parameters that influence this correction. © 2012 IEEE.
