Abstract | The design and performance of a four-resistor combinatorial network for the calibration of thermometry resistance bridges is described. The instrument is able to be immersed in an oil bath for temperature control and has a USB interface. A detailed uncertainty analysis including the effects of the combining network, the cross resistances of the four-terminal junction, electrical insulation resistances, and the stability of the base resistors with respect to both temperature and time, indicates a standard uncertainty due to the network effects alone of better than 200 n or 2 parts in 109 of 100 The performance of the new network has been confirmed with the calibration of a switched-dc bridge for which the standard deviation of residual errors due to both the network and the bridge, was 160 n. © 2013 AIP Publishing LLC. |
